About the Victron SmartSolar MPPT 75/15

Victron SmartSolar MPPT 75/15 12/24V is a solar charger for 12V or 24V systems (auto-select). The maximum nominal PV power transmitted by the solar charger at a 12V system voltage is 220W, and at 24V it is 440W. The maximum PV open-circuit voltage of this solar charger is 75V. SmartSolar solar charge controllers feature a programmable battery charging algorithm and built-in Bluetooth Smart as standard for setting up the charger and monitoring solar yield.

Ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT)

Especially when it is cloudy and light intensity changes constantly, an ultra-fast MPPT controller improves energy yield by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers.

BatteryLife: intelligent battery management

If a solar charge controller cannot fully recharge the battery in one day, the result is often that the battery constantly cycles between ‘partially charged’ and ‘fully discharged’. Without regular full recharging, a lead-acid battery will be irreparably damaged within weeks or months. The BatteryLife algorithm monitors the battery’s state of charge and, if necessary, slightly increases the load disconnect level day by day (by disconnecting the load earlier) until the harvested solar energy is sufficient to charge the battery to nearly 100%. From that point on, the load disconnect level is modulated so that the battery is charged to nearly 100% approximately once a week.

Programmable battery charging algorithm

Every morning, as soon as the sun begins to shine, the charge controller starts a new charging cycle based on a three-step charging process: Bulk – Absorption – Float. The battery charging algorithm is programmable with a set of default settings or user-defined settings.

Internal temperature sensor

Compensates absorption and float charge voltages for temperature.

Load output

Deep discharge of the battery can be prevented by connecting all loads to the load output. The load output disconnects the load when the battery is discharged to a pre-set voltage. (48V model: interface with a relay) Alternatively, the BatteryLife intelligent battery management algorithm can be selected. The load output can be configured via Bluetooth or VE.Direct and is short-circuit proof.

Day/night timing and light dimming option

The Streetlight function allows you to automatically control night lighting, timing, and dimming. When the Streetlight function is enabled, a timer program can be created using ‘sunset’ and ‘sunrise’ as anchor points. The advantage is that the program adjusts to the duration of the night as it changes with the season.
