Description
Lynx Smart BMS 500 NG The Lynx Smart BMS NG is an advanced Battery Management System (BMS), specifically developed for Victron Lithium NG batteries. These batteries utilize lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) technology and are available in 12.8 V, 25.6 V, and 51.2 V versions with various capacities. They can be flexibly configured in series, parallel, or a combination of both, allowing battery banks with system voltages of 12 V, 24 V, or 48 V to be easily assembled.
A single system can contain up to 50 batteries, resulting in an impressive energy storage capacity of 192 kWh at 12 V and even up to 384 kWh for 24 V or 48 V systems. For even larger energy storage, capacity can be expanded by connecting multiple Lynx Smart BMS NG systems in parallel. This not only provides more storage but also offers redundancy in case of a failure in one of the battery banks.
About the Lynx Smart BMS 500 NG (M10)
For detailed information about Victron Lithium NG batteries, please visit the specific product page. Of all available BMS solutions for this new generation of Lithium NG batteries, the Lynx Smart BMS NG offers the most extensive functionalities. The system integrates seamlessly with other M10 products within the Lynx Distributor platform.
This Lynx Smart BMS NG version is not interchangeable with the non-NG version.
Built-in 500 A contactor
• Acts as a secondary safety system to protect the battery if the primary controls (ATC, ATD, and/or DVCC) fail.
• Suitable as a remote-controlled main system switch.
Pre-charge circuit
• Prevents high inrush currents when connecting capacitive loads such as inverters.
• Eliminates the need for external pre-chargers.
Monitoring and control
• Bluetooth connectivity for monitoring and control via the VictronConnect App or VE.Can connectivity in combination with GX devices such as the Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX and the VRM portal.
• Readout of cell voltages and temperatures also on GX devices and the VRM portal.
• A built-in battery monitor provides real-time data such as state of charge, voltage, current, historical data, status information, and more.
• Diagnostics at a glance with Instant Readout.
DVCC closed-loop control and ATC/ATD contacts
• Compatible Victron inverter/chargers, the Orion XS 12/12-50A DC-DC battery charger, and PV charge controllers are automatically controlled via a connected GX device and DVCC.
• ATC/ATD contacts can be used to control other chargers and loads that have a remote on/off port.
Programmable relay
• Can be used either as an alarm relay (combined with the pre-alarm) or to control an alternator via the external regulator (ignition wire).
• Features Alternator ATC mode for safe alternator disconnection before the battery disconnects.
Auxiliary terminal
• On-board auxiliary power (1.1 A @ system voltage) for powering specific loads (e.g., a GX device) post-BMS shutdown.
• Automatic shutdown of BMS and auxiliary connection when no charging voltage is detected within 5 minutes after a low-voltage event.
VE.Can and NMEA 2000 data communication
• Easy connection and communication with GX devices via VE.Can using a standard RJ45 network cable.
• Integration into marine networks via NMEA 2000 protocol (requires a VE.Can to NMEA 2000 micro-C male cable).
Lynx Distributor fuse monitoring
• Monitor fuse status for up to 4 connected Lynx Distributors via VictronConnect or GX devices.
• Receive alarm notifications in case of blown fuses.
Parallel redundant Lynx Smart BMS
• The new parallel redundancy feature for the Lynx Smart BMS and Lynx Smart BMS NG series allows for multiple Lynx BMSs in a single installation.
Each has its own battery bank and together they form one redundant battery system. Up to 5 BMSs can be connected in parallel.
